Ice fishing saltwater

In the wintertime there are good possibilities for ice fishing on the fjords around Tromsø. The ice conditions is normally best in February-March. The equipment we use is short ice fishing rods, conventional reels and pirks around 200g. But fishing with natural bait can also be successful. The most common species is cod, coalfish, haddock, wolffish, dab and whiting. But there have also been caught halibut during this kind of fishing. We place a heated Sami tent on the ice, in the tent we prepare a lunch that consists of the catch of the day. The trip lasts for about 7 hours.
