Sea angling

The area outside Kvaløya has long been associated with sea fishing. Our place in Kattfjorden gives us possibilities to go fishing in all kind of wind directions. When it's rough sea we go fishing in the fjords, but the distance to the open sea is never long. The area is well-known for the halibut fishing. This fishing get better and better every year and professional fishermen catch halibuts over 200kg every year in the area. Another big attraction is when the skrei (big spawning cod from Barents Sea) reach our area in February-April. This time of the year you have the chance to catch 30kg+ cod and the average size of the fish is normally around 10kg. The stationary coastal cod makes it possible to have good fishing for cod all year around. The big coalfish is great fighters and arrives during the summer. The area also offers good fishing for wolffish, haddock, tusk, ling, redfish, dab, plaice, mackerel and whiting.
